About me
Michelle M. Cabiya Zorilla is a highly experienced professional with a solid educational background in project management and business development. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Geography, specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a minor in Communications from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. Furthering her education, Michelle pursued a Master's Degree in Project Management from Lancaster University Management School in the United Kingdom.
Transitioning into her professional career, Michelle began as a Project Consultant at George Cox & Sons Ltd in Manchester, United Kingdom. In this role, she developed expertise in consumer services, CRM databases, project planning, people management, and negotiation, setting a strong foundation for her subsequent roles.
Following her time at George Cox & Sons Ltd, Michelle moved on to become a Sales Customer Success Manager at Workep Inc. in Puerto Rico. Here, she played a crucial role in driving organizational growth by identifying customer needs and closing major deals, resulting in a significant increase in sales and users.
Alongside her corporate roles, Michelle demonstrated her entrepreneurial spirit by establishing and managing a SaaS and hardware manufacturing startup company. Specializing in developing IoT access control solutions for gated communities, this venture provided her with invaluable insights into business ownership and management.
Returning to the corporate world, Michelle served as a Project/Program Management Consultant for the PMO at the Puerto Rico Innovation and Technology Service (PRITS). Here, she spearheaded transformative initiatives aimed at enhancing digital services and operational efficiency. Notably, Michelle led the expansion of the CESCO Digital App user base and successfully implemented the VACU ID Initiative. Additionally, she oversaw the implementation of an ITSM/ITIL framework and strategy within the IT Operations team at PRITS, thereby standardizing operations and fostering a culture of innovation within the organization.
Currently, Cabiya serves as the Director of the Puerto Rico Broadband Program, where she focuses on enhancing consumer services, optimizing budgeting, and ensuring efficient service delivery. Her extensive experience and proven track record make her a valuable asset in driving positive change within organizations.
